We can only predict the future by first examining the past, but sometimes the past is boring. This heavily embellished quote is the reason that we enjoy historical fiction. But what exactly does the genre encompass? How far can we push the limits of stories before they stop being historical and just become fantasy? And can we all come to an agreement?
